- Data Protection: With effect from 25 May 2018 the EU General Data Protection Regulation comes into effect and applies to all organisations that hold data about individuals. Wyre Archaeology asks for members’ contact details and holds them on a database for the purposes of communication.
In order to comply with the Directive, Wyre Archaeology is formalising its policy on Data Protection (draft attached). This will be discussed at the forthcoming Annual General Meeting on 18 April.
The key issue for members is that YOU need to give US permission to hold and use YOUR data i.e. your name and in particular your email address.
- Wyre Archaeology Constitution: Although WA is an amateur and volutntary society, we do have a written constitution that governs how we operate and includes various policies. It’s been some years since the constitution was framed and a number of changes have come about through decisions in meetings or from the Executive Committee.
The updated constitution was accepted in principle by the AGM on 18 April but you may still let us have comments by email.
- Subscriptions: WA subscriptions are due at the current rate. We have no external sources of funding and rely on your subs for purchase or hire of essential equipment that is used on digs, to pay our insurance policy, website fees, room hire etc. Members and the Executive Committee take no remuneration. We depend on you to keep us going so please renew your membership now!
